COMPETENCES 1.Communication in the mother tongue Several people think that including the learning of a second language is harmful in the development of the mother tongue. It isn’t necessary to have totally acquired the mother tongue to learn a second or a foreign language. The mother tongue is the main language that children will develop since they born, and it will be the base to build news knowledges. In our project, we have focused our activities in English, however some meeting and another activities mixing and complementing both languages.
2.Communication in foreign languages This competence is the capacity of transmit ideas, feelings or opinions through the basic skills in a foreign language (listening, speaking, reading and writing). It’s important to develop second language learning in the early years because it’s necessary to interact with other people in other places. At the time of acquire a foreign language we have to offer children basic vocabulary, rules of grammar and essential types of verbal interaction.
3.Mathematical competence and basic competences in science and Technology This competence is based on the capacity to solve problems, thinking about different solutions and apply the best solution in their daily life, in this case linked with the water.
4.Digital competence it’s important to develop the ITC’s in the early years to acquire visual language and digital skills.
5.Learning to learn Children have to be the protagonist of their own learning, so most of the activities we have done are based on the manipulation and experimentation. Children will learn from their own mistakes, searching the precise solutions and forming their own mental outlines in autonomic and independent way. An example of activity in our project, is when we give them an ice and they have to experiment with it and perceive what happen by themselves. By this way they will build a significant learning.
6.Social and civic competence Children have to have basic rules of coexistence to work together respecting and accepting the others, helping each other, respecting the turn-talking and interacting in an affective way, achieving a good cooperative. By this way we want to form civic persons who know develop in a social and working environment.
7.Sense of initiative They develop this competence with the activities that we propose, because all of them are focused to work by this way, being participative students with motivation, an positive attitude and initiative to start the activities by themselves.
8.Cultural awareness and expression Each culture has different kinds of symbols and forms of expression which allow to interact with the others in a verbal and non-verbal language. There are significant cues in every culture which differentiate each other.
